Privacy Policy

Klausen Cars SA processes personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable to visitors from the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing in connection with this website is:

Klausen Cars SA
Route Suisse 47, 1196 Gland, Switzerland
Email: info@klausen.com

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to www.klausen.com and to personal data collected through it. It does not apply to third-party websites linked from this site, nor to other offerings operated under separate terms.

3. Data We Process

3.1 Website visits (server log files)

This website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus (“Hostinger”), on servers located in Europe. When you visit this website, technical data is automatically recorded in server log files: your IP address, the date and time of access, the pages visited, the referring website, and information about your browser and operating system. This data is processed to deliver the website, ensure its stability and security, and detect and prevent misuse. It is not combined with other data about you and is deleted or anonymised within a short period, unless retention is required for security purposes. Hostinger processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, where applicable).

3.2 Cookies and Google Analytics

This website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Some are technically necessary for the website to function; others help us understand how the website is used.

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, and Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to analyse how visitors use the website. The information generated (including a truncated form of your IP address) is transmitted to and stored on Google servers, which may be located in the United States. We use this information to compile aggregated reports on website activity and improve our website and services.

Analytics cookies are set only with your consent, which you can give or refuse via the cookie banner when you first visit the website, and withdraw at any time via the cookie settings.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where applicable), which you may withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

3.3 Contact form and email inquiries

When you contact us through the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide — typically your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your message — in order to handle your inquiry and any follow-up. Providing this data is voluntary, but we cannot respond to your inquiry without it.

Legal basis: performance of pre-contractual measures taken at your request, or our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR, where applicable).

3.4 Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address (and your name, if provided) to send you information about Klausen, including vehicles, events, racing activities, or other announcements. We record your registration and confirmation for evidentiary purposes.

You can unsubscribe at any time via the link contained in every newsletter or by contacting us at info@klausen.com. Our newsletter is dispatched through Klaviyo, Inc., 125 Summer Street, Boston, Massachusetts, USA (“Klaviyo”), which processes your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Klaviyo stores subscriber data in the United States; the safeguards applying to this transfer are described in Section 5.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where applicable), which you may withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

3.5 Google Maps

This website embeds Google Maps, a map service provided by Google (see Section 3.2 for details of the provider). When you access a page containing an embedded map, your browser establishes a connection to Google servers and transmits your IP address and technical data about your device. We have no influence over this data transmission. Further information can be found in Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in presenting our location in a convenient and recognisable way (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, where applicable).

4. Disclosure of Data

We disclose personal data to third parties only where necessary for the purposes described above, in particular to service providers who process data on our behalf (such as our hosting provider, our newsletter dispatch provider and Google as our analytics provider), and only under appropriate data processing agreements. We may also disclose data where required by law, court order or official request, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal data.

5. International Transfers

Our website is hosted on servers located in Europe. However, some of the service providers we use — in particular Google (analytics and maps) and Klaviyo (newsletter) — process personal data in the United States. Both Google and Klaviyo are certified under the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the Swiss Federal Council and the European Commission have recognised as ensuring an adequate level of data protection. Where these frameworks do not apply to a particular transfer, we rely on standard contractual clauses recognised by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner and the European Commission..

6. Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by statutory retention obligations. Inquiry correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the matter and for any applicable limitation periods. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained in accordance with the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Log file data is deleted or anonymised within a short period.

7. Your Rights

Subject to the conditions of applicable law, you have the right to request information about the personal data we process about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data deleted, to object to processing, to restrict processing, and — where processing is based on consent or a contract — to receive your data in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.

To exercise your rights, contact us at info@klausen.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC); in the European Economic Area, the supervisory authority of your place of residence.

8. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and alteration, including encrypted transmission of this website via TLS (HTTPS). Please note that no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, in particular to reflect changes to our website, our services or the law. The version published on this website applies.
